They Call Her Regret

by Channelle DeSamours

Pub date: February 17th, 2026

Genre: Horror

Synopsis: In this young adult speculative mystery, a teen must find a way to free a cursed witch in order to save her best friend before time runs out.

Every year horror-loving Simone Washington throws an epic Halloween party for her classmates. Party-planning is her favorite escape from the dark secrets in her past, and this year, she’s taking things up a notch with an invitation-only event to celebrate her eighteenth birthday―something that will leave the halls of Pinegrove Academy flooded with gossip about the big ghoulish bash. The overnight stay at Doll’s Head Lake will be filled with spooky pranks and scary stories told by the fire―including the legend of a local witch named Regret.

But those dark secrets from Simone’s past are forced to the surface at the party when her best friend Kira dies under questionable circumstances. The witch appears and offers Simone a deal: if Simone can figure out how to release Regret from the curse trapping her at the lake within fourteen days, all of Simone’s regrets will be erased. If Simone accepts, Kira’s life will be immediately restored. But if she fails, Kira will die again―and Simone will be the one to kill her.

Who is your favorite author?

As you can see, James Patterson has always been my all time favorite author. He is the reason that I got into reading so much all these years ago.

I was asked last year, if I wanted to be apart of his street team and I would’ve been crazy to say no…

What’s a street team? It is where you get to read and review the author’s books before they’re even published to get everyone excited about their release.

I am also apart of Charlie Donlea’s street team too. So it is pretty exciting to be recognized by these famous authors, to have them like your stuff that you post about their books, to sharing your posts to get you recognized in the reading world.

Okay!! I am stuck in my fantasy era— and I blame Fourth Wing for getting me sucked into these worlds… I used to read nothing but thrillers or contemporary romance. I am on book five of the Zodiac Academy, I have picked these books up and put them back so many dang times, because well to be honest, I don’t really like reading about vampires. This book is so much more than just vampires, it’s about Dragons, Phoenix’s, Vampires, Medusa, etc… The world that these authors have built is the best world I have ever lived in. It’s their worst nightmare and the best damn thing that ever happened to the Vega Twins.

I am telling you now, the hype on this series is real!!! Like I recommend you get off your butt and get the first book at your local bookstore, or order it off of Amazon.. You will not be disappointed. If you do get it and read it, please find my Instagram on the bottom of this page. WE NEED TO BE FRIENDS!!!

Guess Again by Charlie Donlea

Pub date: 7/29/2025

This book was an amazing read, I literally thought I had so many things figured out, and boy was I wrong.

Donlea really did it again!! He gave us a great story that we couldn’t put down, that we read past our bedtimes just to figure out what was happening. I can’t tell you how many times I thought I had everything figured out, and incomes Charlie, “Nope, guess again.” I guess Hence to the name of the book. Lol I am so excited and grateful to be apart of the Charlie Donlea Detectives Street Team, it means so much to me. But man, can Charlie really blow your mind.

Highly recommend reading this one. I will also be doing a giveaway for the paperback on this book, check out my Instagram and make sure you’re following to enter. My Instagram is: caseys_reads

Do you receive Arc’s from publishers?

If you don’t, let me tell you how you can. If you go to the bio of major publishers on Instagram, you will find in their bio a place where you can sign up to become and affiliate for them.

I didn’t even know I was getting this new read until it showed up at my door. I love getting new reads from authors I have never read before.

A Killing Cold by Kate Alice Marshal

Pub date: February, 2025

About the book: A woman invited to her wealthy fiancé’s family retreat realizes they are hiding a terrible secret—and that she’s been there before, by the bestselling author of What Lies in the Woods.

A whirlwind romance.
When Theodora Scott met Connor—wealthy, charming, and a member of the powerful Dalton family—she fell in love in an instant. Six months later, he’s brought her to Idlewood, his family’s isolated winter retreat, to win over his skeptical relatives.

Stay away from Connor Dalton.
Theo has tried to ignore the threatening messages on her phone, but she can’t ignore the footprints in the snow outside the cabin window or the strange sense of familiarity she has about this place. Then, in a disused cabin, Theo finds something impossible: a photo of herself as a child. A photo taken at Idlewood.

I’ve been here before.
Theo has almost no recollection of her earliest years, but now she begins to piece together the fragments of her memories. Someone here has a shocking secret that they will do anything to keep hidden, and Theo is in terrible danger. Because the Daltons do not lose, and discovering what happened at Idlewood may cost Theo everything.
